Rishabh Rajendra Pant, an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indiancricket team as a wicket-keeper batter has confirmed the 25-year-old has been injured in a serious car accident.
Pant crashed between Mangalaur and Nursan, close to his hometown of Roorkee in the northern state of Uttarakhand.
The moment cricketer Rishabh Pant’s car crashed into a divider was caught on a security camera. Chilling footage from Uttarakhand showed the Mercedes-AMG GLE43 Coupe hitting the divider at high speed. His vehicle caught fire following the collision near Roorkee and he had to break the windscreen of the car to escape.
The cricketer suffered cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his knee and several other injuries on his wrist, legs, and back, according to an official statement.
His condition is not serious and has been referred to Max hospital in Dehradun.
Mr Pant was driving from Delhi to his home in Roorkee to surprise his mother and spend the New Year with his family when the accident occurred.
The cricketer said he dozed off while driving and lost control of the car, said police.

One of the most exciting batters in international cricket, Pant was last in action for India on Christmas day when he helped his side to victory over Bangladesh in Mirpur, top-scoring with 93 in India’s first innings.
Pant was not named in India’s upcoming T20 and ODI series against Sri Lanka, but was expected to feature prominently for the Test team when Australia arrive in February for a four-Test series.
He was recently selected by Guardian cricket writers in their team of 2022.
